everyday thoughts
i finally have some time to update the site! a bunch of stuff has happened in the past two weeks and i really want to talk about them. i just moved back to montréal and started a new semester at uni, and i just got back on my pc (i have been using my laptop all summer) and i realised my site doesn’t fit a wide screen :( i need to update it.
ok so first, i got my driver’s license!!!!!!!! i am SO happy, i started taking driving lessons and took the test a first time like 4 years ago, i failed it, and i have been traveling since that so i haven’t had the time to take lessons again. BUT! this summer i wasn’t able to find a job, so i took the opportunity to take driving lessons (”accelerated” driving courses, where i was able to get an exam date at the end of the summer before i had to move back,
because in france it can take up to 6 months to have an exam date). the only thing was that i’m originally from a place that’s more in the countryside, and it’s hard to find spots in driving schools and also i can’t really get to a driving school without a car where i’m from so basically i had to take these classes in paris’ suburbs, where i was staying for the summer anyway. driving in the city is MUCH harder than driving in the countryside, it’s actually kinda crazy that i managed to get my license there
after driving only 20 hours on streets i didn’t know. to make things easier for me though i took the test on an automatic car this time (i took it on a stick shift 4 years ago), and i can get a certificate by taking a few more driving lessons on a stick shift whenever i want, without retaking the test. anyways i am super happy, even though i won’t be driving during the next few months since i don’t have (or need) a car in montréal. i would’ve loved to rent a
car and like drive around québec a bit, but i can’t do that because i got my license too recently.
another thing that happened recently is that my mom got into a plane accident. she’s a flight attendant, last week she left in the morning and told me she’d be back that same night, she just had a few round trips paris-corsica that day. she called me in the afternoon to tell me she was gonna come home early because they had had an accident but that she was fine, but that her colleagues were going to the hospital. turned out they had had some severe severe turbulences before landing
due to some storm they went through, like the kind that has you jumping to the ceiling (my dad who is a pilot had the same kind of thing happening to him years ago, i can’t really explain it but basically it’s some air pocket that goes up unexpanctantly and makes everything move for like 2 seconds. it is very occasional though, this is the first time it happened to my mom in her +30 year career). my mom was fine because she was standing at the galley and nothing was out, she just got a bruise on her leg from
hitting something, but her colleagues were standing in the alley and got really hurt. one of them has a broken foot and another broke her pelvis and fractured a vertebra i think. some stuff broke on the plane like the intercom at the back. thankfully a pilot was there as a passenger and helped my mom after the landing. the pilots of the flight didn’t realize how bad the damage was until they saw the cabin, my mom told me they felt super guilty afterwards. anyways my mom is fine, and the others are recovering.
right now she’s focused on training for her 100km race that’s taking place in like 3 weeks, so she’s occupied.
that’s just the two things i’ll talk about for now. i could say more about my new classes at uni, i’m taking italian and theology and video production and electronic art this semester, mayybe i’ll talke about that later. ok bye
i’m still taking driving classes, still in paris (although tomorrow i’m going back to the south for a few days), and i’m enjoying playing around w this site. now that i’ve added things a little bit everywhere, i’m thinking of modifying the pages here and there for fun. also i need to add more pictures because the site feels a littl empty, and i also want to figure out how i could add a music playlist somewhere (at least on the index).
the day before yesterday i saw the artemisia gentileschi exhibition in paris. i’m really happy i got to see it while i was there because i looove baroque art and this artist in particuliar. i got to see lots of my fav paintings, including the better judith slaying holofernes (than caravaggio’s) and the allegoria dell’inclinazione.
i also bought lots of books lately : corto maltese fable de venise and le jour de tarowean, robin the boy wonder by juni ba, dc’s kal-el-fornia love (some random dc issue lol), danielewski’s house of leaves (that i finally found irl in english!), and a book on reconizing saints and biblical events by pastoureau and duchet-suchaux.
talking about saints, i’ve been studying religious art history lately. right now i’m studying christian art (because that’s what i’m most interested in for now) but i want to learn more about jewish, islamic, hindu and buddhist art. i’ve already seen some islamic art in uni and i loove islamic architecture. i’m learning on the site all art history professors love.
yesterday i saw the bad guys 2 in theaters. it was nice. i could tell it was made by some animation nerds lol
corto maltese (heavy on that one!!), addison rae’s last album, one piece, hunter x hunter (esp succession arc), brazilian bossa nova, thin flat eyebrows, bandes dessinées, hong kong, air (the band not like oxygen), annabelle kelly on ytb (been following her on tiktok forever but i esp like her recent vlogs on ytb), those videos of the people disguised as characters at disneyland and universal studios going around on tiktok, playing kh3 on my laptop, helen island’s last album
I guess I should start by an introductory post. I know all of these tabs are confusing, I’m still trying to figure out how to manage the site. but basically, higher plane is my everyday journal. i’ve divided it into 3 parts : the everyday (everyday thoughts), running (because i’m a runner and i want a special part to record my progress and training and whatever), and travel (because i love traveling and i have done it quite a lot so yeah).
so, as i was saying, this is more of an everyday life thing here. i don’t actually know if i’ll write a lot here since most of my thoughts can probably be categorize in another part of the site. i do think i like the idea of the site being kinda confusing, kinda like a maze. anywyas. this is my first post, i’ll keep updating when i have something interesting to say.
right now i still need to figure out how to do a bunch of things on this site. i’ve never built something like this, this complex, i did some coding in highschool but never took it this far.
anyways. i’m in paris right now (the suburbs), i don’t have a job for this summer, i don’t know if i’ll complete my study permit renewal for canada in time, tomorrow i’m leaving to spend some time at a friend’s who’s working near the ocean, i’m taking driving lessons later this month. more on all of that later maybe
